Independence Day

"India’s independence day"

I was born in India. I did not choose it. I mean, imagine, no one asked me, if I would like to be born in India! Is that fair? I was lucky enough to be born in an independent country. History tells me that British ruled India for close to 200 years. Phew! You see, it is so difficult to believe that a few thousand, let’s say a few lakhs, I do not know what the total number of British was, ruled millions of Indians! Yes, you read it right na. Divide and rule. Why do you think that it was easy to divide Indians? It was because we were already divided. They officially created the lines and made us fight with each other. After all, two people living in the same house, jealous of each other, can be easily made to fight! The British who ruled us were barbaric, heartless, mindless b*******. We supported the B***** because we fought with each other. There were patriots who died for the cause of Independence. We should be proud of them, have you not been taught? Do you feel it?

All right, Henry Ford said, history is bunk. So you agree with it, okay? I do. It is bunk. What happened, happened. Let’s cut to 21st century. Gujarat, 2002. No,
don't want to talk about it? Why? It is because we are this great nation and we only do things like killing innocent men and children, raping women, burning houses, vandalizing public property, becoming the second largest populated country in the world- we do not talk about these things. Why? We are a great nation, na, baba. Thousands of people get killed and no one gets punished. You see, you cannot hold anyone responsible when a mob goes on a rampage. But who puts the mob on the roads? And why does no one gets shot?

Let’s talk about population. No, we do not talk about population. Haaw, you do not talk about where kids come from! You see. You know, it’s a taboo. You do not talk about sex. Haaw. I said that word! No government since the independence has had the guts to implement a policy on population. Why? For what they won't do, how should they preach? It's a chaos in every city. It takes hours to complete distances which should otherwise take minutes! But then, who cares?

Chalta hai, haina?!

I live in Gurgaon. It is the millennium or the cyber city or the Singapore of India or something. There is no electricity for half the day, the roads in interiors are broken and the likes. I have had the fortune of spending some time in Singapore. Gurgaon will not reach there in decades. Please go prove me wrong if someone can. I will be delighted.

How about some of the national habits of this so called upcoming superpower?! Digging the nose, fondling the crotch, spitting wherever they want, pissing around for there are no public toilets! We fight over religion, caste, culture on the drop of a hat. We have no respect for women as a nation.

You see, do not get me wrong. But please do get me. Facts do not cease to exist just because we choose to ignore them. I am thankful for the education I got here which has made me conscious of my surroundings and given me the ability to write this article. I am thankful for the wonderful people I get to spend time with in India.

But as a young Indian, I want more. I would have liked to see more happen. I want to see more happen. I hate corruption, nepotism, rioters, and chaos! I like transparency, order, performance and human equality irrespective of the origin. I want India to realize its potential and become the great country that the visionaries who died for her saw her as.

All the best, respected PM. I and my generation expect a lot from you and your team.

Happy Independence Day
