The man in the mirror!!!

Can you stand in front of the mirror and look in the eyes of the person there and say- " I am proud of the person you have become?"

If you can, then there is no one else in this world you need to answer and be answerable to. The mirror is the only judge of your success, your character, rights and wrongs.

If you want to determine if an action is wrong or right, think of the man in the mirror. If you would be able to look in those eyes with pride and confidence, then your actions are right. If your actions are wrong, the man in the mirror will tell you.

ofcourse, same applies if you see a woman in the mirror!!

The person in the mirror, the only judge who matters ;)

Anand, the Shobna boy

I dedicate this post to Anand, the 18 year old lad who serves food day and night in the neighbourhod restaurant, Shobna.

He arrives at 7 in the morning and spends the rest of the day in this tiny restaurant serving every customer with a smile. Would not he choose a better life if one was available to him? He certainly would. Somehow, his smile makes me question it?

There was anoter boy in the Singapore Canteen, he used to arrive at 7 again in the morning and would wash dishes, clean the place, all with a smile.

I feel bad for them, I wish they had better opportunities available and they could lead a better life. Wishing does not serve any purpose, does it???

I recently read the book, "Bottom of the pyramid" by the most influential thinker of 2007, C K Prahalad. He talks about the market available at the bottom of the pyradmid which translates to 4 billion people.

I want to do something for the anands of this world and only pray that i get an opportunity and I promise, when the opportunity presents itself, I will catch it.

What is your contribution?

The quality of your life will be determined by the quality of your contribution. So what does contribution mean?

Contribution means what have you done that has created value. You do not contribute to yourself. Contribution is external.

You contribute to someone's else's life
You contribute to your company
You contribute to society
You do not contribute to yourself

The contribution question asks, "what have you done beyond yourself"?

The quality of your life will be the quality of your contribution.

i am not well!

All right, this post is dedicated to the sentence, "i am not well" and cannot show at work.

First of all, who cares if you are not well?? why can't you bloody take care of yourself?? we will have to manage without you, what else can we do? and if you continue to be not well, we will phase you out??

Your life works as good as your presence. In the real world, whatever that means, there is no space for not being well, you have got to take care of yourselves and show up for work.

If you are not well, you will create a day where your existence will become completely irrelevant.

So the rules are:

1. Do not get into a situation where you have to say, "I am not well"
2. If you do get in this situation, do not expect sympathy. Apathy and indifference is better

Take care of yourselves and justify your existence ;)

the inexplicability of the easily explained!!!

we tend to explain everything, i mean everything. More so, we are eager to explain and come out with answers to our behavior

so many decisions in life are taken on intuition, snap judgment. We just cannot explain why we do what we do at times. there is no need to...

just let some things be...there are decisions we just know are right...do not ask us why...everything cannot be answered...some of those things just cannot be explained...

Dr William James said...

Every time a resolve or a fine glow of feeling is allowed to evaporate without bearing the practical fruit is worse than a chance lost, it hinders future resolutions and emotions from taking their normal path of discharge. It becomes a self-defeating prophesy.

Every positive impulse must be answered!!!

Run towards things you like, run towards your desires, your wants, run towards people you get attracted to

just go get it!!!!PERIOD.

NOW

the importance of convenience!!!

Few critical observations....

People do not give a damn to what is right, i am not saying that the do not know what is right, they very well know it. The truth is in most cases, doing the right thing takes time and effort and most people avoid it.

Think about it....how many times you fret and fume because people do not behave in the way you expect them to behave thinking you know them a bit at least!!! Think about:

Marriages: Instantly you should be able to think about a friend or acquaintance who married an idiot or a proclaimed jerk!!

Fast Food: We know it does not help our health, but then it is an industry in itself and growing by billions

Religious Fast: Heard about people who observe fasts and eat what according to them is the right diet for someone who's fasting!!!

Votes: Did not she/he just vote a friend of theirs rather than voting the deserving candidate just to avoid confrontation with the friend?

Do not give me crap that this does not happen. It happens all the time and today I am deciding not to let all this bug me.

One thing is clear. I want to be with people who take the extra effort to do what is the right thing to do, at least most times. I cannot throw myself away from the society because most people are such.

However, I will not allow myself to get irritated if:

• People do not do what they say (the world is hypocrisy globalized)
• They marry idiots
• They go out with idiots
• They eat crap
• They do not thank me (thanks Dale Carnegie who says lack of gratitude is something you must expect)
• They give lectures and do not just do anything

Next time, someone does something strange, do not fret and fume. Expect crap to happen.

Not many people think why are things the way they are!!!
